Biography

Dr. XxXxxxxx is currently the Vice Chair of Extension within the Department of Botany and Plant Sciences at the Xxxxxxxxxx xx Xxxxxxxxxx Xxxxxxxxx. Xxxxxxx has over 43 years of experience in academia, focusing on vegetable crops, desert agriculture, sustainable agriculture, the environmental impact of agriculture, biochar as a soil amendment, agroecosystem services, carbon sequestration, and recycling. Xxxxxxxx academic responsibilities require him to conduct applied research and outreach related to agriculture and natural resources. Xxxxxxxx recent research topics include crop production, soil fertility, organic agriculture, weed science, carbon sequestration, biochar, greenhouse gas reduction, and the environmental impact of agriculture. Xxxxxxx has worked in various farming systems in California, the USA, and several countries in the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Saudi Arabia. Dr. XxXxxxxx holds a Master of Science in Entomology from Xxxxx Xxxxxxxx Xxxxx Xxxxxxxxxx and a Doctor of Philosophy in Horticulture and Plant Physiology from the Xxxxxxxxxx xx Xxxxxxxx xx XxxxxxxXxxxxxxxx.
