Biography

Dr. Xxxx Xx Xxxxxx is a former president of Xxx Xxxxxx Xxxxx University. During his Presidency, xxxxxxx engaged with the faculty, staff, and students of XXXX in a dialogue centered around strategic visioning and a planning process that resulted in XXXX XXXXX xxxx. Xxxxxxx has recently returned to the faculty as a professor of Food Science, Packaging & Engineering. Before joining XXXX, Dr. Xxxxxx led the College of Agriculture at Xxxxxx Xxxxx Xxxxxxxxxx xXXXx as its Dean, where he also served as the Director of K-State Research & Extension (KSRE). At XXXxxxxx he guided the College of Agriculture to record undergraduate and graduate student enrollments, as well as to record extramural funding and research expenditures. Under xxxxxxxx leadership, XxXxxxx established the first in the nation crop-related center with industry/university cooperation and National Science Foundation support on wheat genomics. He also secured four new Feed the Future innovation labs from the U.S. Agency for International Development on wheat genomics, sorghum and millet, post-harvest loss reduction, and sustainable intensification, a total investment of more than $100M for five years. Dr. Xxxxxx received xxxxxxxx PhD from the University of Georgia, and xxxxxxxx BS/MS degree from the Agricultural University of Athens, all in food science and technology. He worked in the food industry, was on the faculty at Xxxxxx Xxxxxxxxxx, where xxxxxxx received tenure and achieved the rank of Professor of Food Process Engineering and Packaging, and xxxxxxx served as Head of the Department of Food Science at xxx Xxxxxxxxxxxx Xxxxx Xxxxxxxxxx. Xxxxxxx has published more than 220 refereed articles, research abstracts, book chapters, and other publications, presented more than 150 research papers and more than 200 invited lectures, consulted for more than 40 food, pharmaceutical, and packaging companies, and received numerous awards and professional honors throughout xxxxxxxx career.
